They decided to go looking for their son’s home. Lost in the night of Beijing, lost in the promise of their son, and lost in contemporary china, the parents were wondering where their son’s home was. They did not find their son for the whole night. Eventually, they came to Tian’anmen Square, which they had been longing for all the time. They looked at the portrait of Chairman Mao. Director's statement

The film is about real contemporary China. The old couple comes to Beijing to visit their only son, who is working there, but their son doesn’t show up, and they finally get lost in the city. Wondering where their son’s home is, the old couple gets lost in the promise their son makes to them and which the country makes to their people (One-Child Policy, for example). They meet all kinds of people that night, and everybody they have met is abandoned by the time. In contemporary China, we all become homeless.
