Zhang Ziyi

Zhang Ziyi, widely recognized for her roles in classics such as CROUCHING DRAGON HIDDEN TIGER, MEMORIES OF A GEISHA and THE GRANDMASTER, made her directorial debut in 2021 with the release of POEM, a critically acclaimed short film in a four-part film MY COUNTRY, MY PARENTS. At the age of 27, in 2006, she was on the Jury of the Cannes Film Festival (Main Competition). She was also a Cinefondation Juror in 2009 and Un Certain Regard Juror in 2013. In 2013, France conferred Ms. Zhang with the Order of Arts and Letters, rank of Chevalier. In 2016, she served on the Toronto Film Festival Platform Jury and, in 2019, she was President of the Jury at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Famous for his poetic and realistic cinematic style, he has collaborated with distinguished directors such as Lu Chuan, Wong Kar Wai, Chen Kaige and Guan Hu, and was the director of cinematography of films including KEKEXILI: MOUNTAIN PATROL, CITY OF LIFE AND DEATH, FOREVER YOUNG, SEE YOU TOMORROW, LEGEND OF THE DEMON CAT, etc. He was the first cinematography supervisor to use IMAX shooting equipment in Asia. He has won multiple domestic and international awards including the Golden Horse Awards, Hong Kong Film Awards, the Golden Rooster Awards, San Sebastian International Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, etc.

Liu Qiang, art director and production designer, member of China Film Art Direction Academy (CFADA).
He has participated in the art design and make-up and costume design in many well-known films, such as WILD GOOSE LAKE, LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, THE LOOMING STORM, MOUNTAINS MAY DEPART, COMING HOME, BLACK COAL, THIN ICE, MR. TREE, I WISH I KNEW, 24 CITY, NIGHT TRAIN, STILL LIFE, etc. Among these films, many were selected at the main competitions of Cannes International Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival. He has been nominated for Best Art Direction and Best Makeup & Costume Design twice at Golden Horse Awards and won the 51st Golden Horse Awards for BLACK COAL, THIN ICE. He also has been nominated for Best Art Direction at the 32nd Golden Rooster Awards. He served on the jury of the 53rd Golden Horse Awards in 2016.

She was the editing supervisor of over 50 films including THE REVOLUTIONIST, ANGELS WEAR WHITE, BLACK COAL, THIN ICE, BEIJING BICYCLE, THE GREAT HYPNOTIST, etc. Films that she edited have been shortlisted in many film festivals including the Cannes, Berlinale and Venice. She won Best Film Editing at the 49th Golden Horse Awards with the film BEIJING BLUES in 2011 and was shortlisted at the Golden Rooster Awards, Hong Kong Film Awards and the Satellite Awards.

Zhang Jialu

Born in 1970, he received his MA in Drama Studies from National Taipei University of Arts. He has previously worked as magazine editor and TV programme planner. At present, he is the executive producer and creative director of CKF Film Productions (Beijing). Zhang is an 8-time winner of the GIO Excellent Screenplay Awards. He won a Golden Horse Award in Best Adapted Screenplay with A WORLD WITHOUT THIEVES, and his work of THE MESSAGE and KORA were nominated in the same category. In 2007, Zhang won China Times Literature Award with a short novel titled THE TERRORISTS. His recent works include FOREVER ENTHRALLED, DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF PHANTOM FLAME, TAICHI 0 AND TAICHI HERO, YOUNG DETECTIVE DEE: RISE OF THE SEA DRAGON, THE GHOULS and DETECTIVE DEE: THE FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS. He is the executive producer of Lou Ye’s film THE SHADOW PLAY and ONMYOJI.

Wang Yichun

Wang Yichun was born in 1977 and graduated with a BA in French. In 2015, her debut feature film WHAT IS IN THE DARKNESS, written, directed and produced by herself, was nominated and awarded at more than thirty international film festivals, including FIRST International Film Festival, Berlinale, BFI London Film Festival and Shanghai International Film Festival. The film was later released in China in October 2016. In 2021, she directed the film THE KIDNAPPING starring Jiang Wu, Yan Ni and Zeng Meihuizi, which is currently in post-production. The film project won the “Most Bankable Project” award of the 18th Shanghai International Film Festival, and was selected as the only film project from mainland China at the Berlinale Co-Production Market 2019.

Wu Qi is the editor-in-chief of ONE-WAY STREET JOURNAL, the host of the podcast THE TURN OF THE SCREW, the curator of the One-Way Street Bookstore Literary Award and the Sailors Project, and one of the council members of the OneWay Street Foundation. He is the co-author with Xiang Biao of the book, THE SELF AS METHOD: IN CONVERSATION WITH XIANG BIAO, and the Chinese translator of James Baldwin’s non-fiction work, THE FIRE NEXT TIME. Zhang Qi was nominated for Best Editing with the film YOUTH directed by Feng Xiaogang at the 12th Asian Film Awards and won Best New Editor Award at the 13th Chinese Young Generation Film Forum. The trailer for YOUTH edited by him won Best Foreign Music Trailer at the 19th Golden Trailer Awards. His other trailer works for HIDDEN MAN, JINPA, BABY, HOME SWEET HOME and WILD GOOSE LAKE scored 9 nominations at the Golden Trailer Awards.

Jin Jiang was born in Luoyang, Henan Province in 1989. He dropped out of high school and devoted his spare time to engaging in contemporary arts. In 2013, he held his first exhibition IN THE FIELD OF HOPE. In 2015, he was exposed to the world of filmmaking and started making films of his own a year later. He completed his first documentary feature SHANG’AJIA in 2017, the documentary short ONE DAY and his second documentary feature THE BROKEN RIDGE in 2020.

Director and producer. Based in Beijing, Fanfan is a documentary producer and director with 13 years of extensive experience in international and local productions delivering important stories about China to the world. She has completed over 50 documentary projects in various subjects with top Chinese and international talents like Yung Chang (UP THE YANGTZE), Zhou Hao (CHINESE MAYOR), Lixin Fan (LAST TRAIN HOME), David Sington (THE FEAR OF 13) and Oscar winner Jerome Maison (MARCH OF PENGUINS), among others. Fanfan’s recent producing and directing work includes SHADOW OF GOLD (ARTE, SVT, TVO), TOY STORIES (CBC), IAMHERE (Chinatheatricalrelease), THE REALM (Tencent), LINGO TANGO (Starhub), PANDEMIC 19 (PBS, Tencent) and LIN DAN: THE FINAL FIGHT (Youku). She produced HISTORY OF WORDS (ARTE, BBC, PBS) and ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL (France 5). Many of these projects, such as SHADOW OF GOLD, are currently in release at international film festivals and will be released in cinemas. In 2018, she founded Flying Sparrow Films together with Yung Chang in Beijing.

Huang Yue earned a master’s degree in religion and literature from Yale Divinity School. Since 2018, he has been serving as the director of programming at CineCina Film Festival in New York. In 2019, he founded La Fonte, which has co-produced a number of projects, including A NEW OLD PLAY (Locarno 2021), YANAGAWA (Busan 2021), and VR project DIAGNOSIA (Sundance 2022). PhD candidate at Beijing Film Academy. His research interest focuses on screen cultures. He was the co-programmer of “Bewildered Tropic: Thai Auteur Film Week” exhibited in Shanghai and the programmer of the online exhibition of Thai art short films. He selected films for the 14th and 15th Chinese Youth Film Week Feature Film section, and participated in the selection process for the “Forward Future” programme of the Beijing International Film Festival. He was the reviewer of the 4th DeepFocus Chinese Film Critics Competition. He recorded the film LOVE POEM, which won Best Feature Film at the 14th FIRST International Film Festival. He also directed SO LONG THE SUMMER, which was the annual winning project of the Falcon Project.
