Cao Fei

Born in 1978 in Guangzhou, she is one of the most innovative Chinese artists to have emerged on the international scene. She mixes social commentary, popular aesthetics, references to Surrealism, and documentary conventions in her films and installations. Her award-winning works reflect on the rapid and developmental changes that are occurring in Chinese society today. Cao Fei’s works have been exhibited at a number of international biennales, triennales and art institutions, such as MoMA PS1 (New York), Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Serpentine Galleries (London), etc. Her recent projects include a major retrospective Staging the Era at the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art (Beijing) and a solo exhibition at the MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts (Rome). Cao Fei is a professor of the School of Experimental Art at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. She was also on the jury and served as nominator for various international awards.

Dai Jinhua

Renowned scholar, cultural critic, highly respected cinema researcher in the Chinese-speaking world. She is a Professor in the Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture, Peking University. She was one of the founders of the first Film History major in China back in 1987. Her research interests include popular culture, film studies, and gender studies. She is the author of more than ten scholarly monographs, which have been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean. She sat on the jury of Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and has organized courses, lectures, and panels on Chinese cinema and public culture in more than ten universities in the US, such as Cornell University, Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley.

Huang Xuan

Chinese film and television actor. Born in 1985 in Lanzhou, Gansu, China, he made his acting debut in The Shaft in 2007. His later well-known film and TV projects include Youth (2017), Legend of the Demon Cat (2017) and Minning Town (2021). He is a regular collaborator with celebrated directors such as Feng Xiaogang and Chen Kaige. He starred in Ann Hsu’s Hong Kong Film Awards winning feature The Golden Era (2014); Lou Ye’s Golden Horse Best Picture winning title Blind Massage (2014), which also won Silver Bear award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival. In 2021, he won Best Actor Award at Hong Kong International Film Festival for his performance in Wuhai, which also won the FIPRESCI Award at San Sebastian Film Festival.
