Synopsis
The protagonist lives at the base of Mount Helan, in a place known as Gangchang, Northwest China. He often imagines that he had been to the other side of the mountains. His mother was about to take him away from Gangchang. When summer came to an end in the story, something unusual happened to the boy…

Guan Haotian graduated from Communication University of China in 2018 majoring in Film and Television Photography and Production. He has been working as a freelancer ever since, devoting himself to the film industry.
Director's statement
Our protagonist lives at the base of Mount Helan, in a place known as Gangchang, Northwest China. This is where I grew up, raised by my grandparents until I was 5 years old. There was a time when an uncountable number of factories migrated to this corner of China; and this place, Gangchang, grew from that. But now Gangchang is falling apart, becoming derelict. For the children of this place, there is little known about what is outside of this crumbling habitat. According to our protagonist’s mother, there is a vast factory and nothing more other than mountain ranges as far as the eye can see, it seems like there really is no escape. And yet, he still questioned what he had been taught. He wanted to see with his own eyes what he imagined was really there, not a factory and mountains, but luscious meadows he had dreamed of.
